How to handle a wasp nest: risks, professional destruction methods, price €80 to €250. Same-day intervention available.

Wasp nest: what to do in 2026?

Destroying a wasp nest costs between €80 and €250 depending on height, access, and species (common wasp, European hornet or Asian hornet). Never try to destroy an active nest yourself: risk of multiple stings and severe allergic reactions.

Indicative price table

Configuration Indicative price Duration
Accessible nest (garden, shed) €80 – €150 24h
High nest (roof, façade) €120 – €200 24-48h
Asian hornet nest €150 – €250 priority within 24h
Weekend / evening intervention + €30 – €50 immediate

The Asian hornet is a priority invasive species — some municipalities cover part of the cost. Check with your town hall.

When to call for emergency intervention

Vital risk — call the fire brigade (18 in France, 112 EU-wide) if: - Someone has been stung and shows signs of severe allergy (throat swelling, breathing difficulty) - More than 10 simultaneous stings - Nest in immediate proximity of children or allergic individuals

Same-day professional intervention for: - Nest near an entrance, window or living space - Heavy wasp / hornet traffic - Asian hornet nest (threat to local honeybees)

How the intervention runs

1. Safe approach (early morning or late evening)

Wasps are clustered in the nest and less active. The pro wears a full beekeeping suit (resistant to Asian hornet stings).

2. Spraying from a distance

Telescopic pole (up to 12 metres) with approved professional insecticide. The workers die within minutes; the queen is the priority target.

3. Nest removal

Once the colony is inactive, the nest is taken down and neutralised. This prevents the return of any survivors or another colony nesting in the same spot.

4. Prevention advice

Identification of likely nesting spots around the property and advice on how to avoid a repeat next year.

Special case: Asian hornet

How to recognise it: black thorax and abdomen, single yellow-orange segment, yellow leg tips. Smaller than a European hornet but more aggressive if the nest is approached.

Why it's urgent: a single nest can destroy up to 30 honeybee hives within a 3 km radius. Also report it to your town hall (national register).
