About Fleas

Fleas are parasites that live on pets (dogs, cats) but reproduce in the home: their eggs fall from the fur onto rugs, carpets, gaps in parquet flooring and pet baskets, where they wait for a host before hatching. A single female can lay up to 50 eggs per day and the larvae survive several weeks in the environment. Their bites are particularly bothersome around the ankles and can transmit tapeworm to humans. Treating the animal alone is not enough: the home must also be disinfected to break the cycle.

Treatment approach

Treatment combines a veterinary parasiticide for the animal (prescribed by the attending vet) and a professional intervention on the home: thorough vacuuming of textiles and rugs, then spraying of an adulticide insecticide together with a growth regulator that prevents the eggs from hatching. Returning to the room is possible after 3 to 4 hours of ventilation; fumigation requires 6 to 8 hours.
